The history of the AFRAM festival dates back to the 70’s. I learned of AFRAM from an ad on the radio this year! AFRAM celebrated 50 Years this past June and it was sight to see. Parking was insane. We walked until our legs turned to noodles to get into to the park. We started at the back the crowd when the sun was up, around 7PM then inched our way to the front to see the headliner “Juvenile” by 9 P.M. It was scorching hot and I left my fan home. Despite that huge mistake I had a blast with Prince Issa. I laughed so hard when he said he can’t believe he is getting to see classic hip-hop live and it sounds way better than it does on my 1900’s playlist.
The mayor presented Juvenile with the keys to the city. He gave a sentimental acceptance speech. Highlights of his performance included modified lyrics to Ha and an amazing break down by the band especially the guitarist. Follwing he trend my phone was dead for those key moments.

The Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association (NOVABAA) serves as a positive voice and professional legal association for a diverse group of attorneys, particularly, African American attorneys, judges, law professors and law students in Northern Virginia.
I had the pleasure of attending the annual social for my second time via invite from Vice President Margeaux Thomas. Virginia Senator Jennifer D. Carroll Foy was awarded “Distinguished Service Member” by NOVABAA.
